Document Processing Policies and Procedures
Happy Schools is committed to creating and maintaining a teacher registration system that is fair, effective and consistent with its mission. With a goal of safer, more effective classrooms for children we do that by processing criminal records documentation (Basic registration) and confirming educational credentials (Full registration).
Criminal records check documentation
Applicants for registration with the Happy Schools program who submit a criminal record containing any of the following convictions will not be considered for registration:
- any crime against or involving a minor
- any sexual offence
- assaults of any kind (with or without weapons)
- drug trafficking
- theft of any kind
- break and enter of any kind
- multiple substance abuse or related convictions
Please note: By applying for Happy Schools registration you are applying for the right to work with children. Expunged, sealed or spent convictions involving sexual offences and/or crimes against or involving children may be made known to Happy Schools via a vulnerable sector query during your criminal records request. Any such finding is grounds for refusal of registration.
If you have any questions regarding your criminal history and your eligibility for the Happy Schools program, please contact us in advance of formally registering as, once submitted, applications for registration are non-refundable.
Degree check documentation
Applicants submitting documentation to Happy Schools' DegreeCheck* should be aware of the following:
- you must submit or arrange for the submission of your university transcripts
- you must submit a high quality copy of your degree (not the original)
- you must have graduated from a legitimate and accredited university
- you must include a release for Happy Schools to contact your university (if necessary)
If you have any questions regarding Happy Schools' Degree Check service, please contact us in advance of formally registering. Remember: Applications for registration are non-refundable.
*Degrees are not required to teach in every country. DegreeCheck is only relevant to applicants seeking Full registration status in the Happy Schools program. Basic registration status only requires the submission of relevant police check documentation.
